Starting a Conversation

The more we talk as a community about navigating technology during childhood, the stronger our solutions will be. An important part of New Canaan Unplugged’s mission is to begin these conversations. We will be hosting and facilitating in-person events to spark discussions around this topic in the coming months. We hope you will be able to join us.
-- NOTE - These events have all occured already! --

New Canaan Unplugged will host an open conversation around navigating childhood tecnology use at the New Canaan Nature Center. Please join us to learn about healthier technology options and hear stories of how families have successfully unplugged. It will be an excellent opportunity to connect with parents who are wrestling with similar questions.

Dr.Raquel Harrison recently joined Michael Dinan on the New Canaanite podcast to discuss New Canaan Unplugged. She speaks in detail about helping families navigate the social media and smartphone landscape, with a focus on thoughtful boundaries around technology. Click HERE to visit the site and listen!

Should Parents sign Smartphone Ban Pledges? Dr. Emily Weinstein & Dr. Jacqueline Nesi discuss both sides of this issue in this video podcast. One thing they suggest: If you are going to withhold something, add something! If you take away the way they think they need to connect, you need to offer other opportunities to connect.
